SUMMER!!!
I thought it would NEVER come, but finally summer has arrived. Ok, it’s not quite like the Aussie summers I’m used to, and I am reminded that people were sent to Siberia as punishment because of its cold, harsh conditions, but it is a giant contrast to winter, and that’s good enough.
Seeing green in abundance is a salve to the soul. I understand why they are reluctant to mow the weeds and it’s actually a delight to see the dandelions in abundance. If only I weren’t worried about ticks being in that long grass, I’d be rolling in it!!
So far, it’s only been the last week that has really seen any warmth, and the hottest day has been about 22C, but this is such a change from dreariness, rain and cold that you can’t help but feel lifted. These few precious weeks of sunshine mean that everyone seems to be in a better mood. It’s wonderful not having to pile on the clothing just to brave the elements, even though either end of the day is still quite cool.
I am hoping we are able to make the most of going outside and enjoying the beauty of the Siberian Taiga that we live in. In winter, this might feel like a God-forsaken place, but in summer, it is clear to see that He has not forgotten to grace this land with beauty.
Below are a few of the pictures I have shared on FB and some others as I focus on the ups, and not the downs.
The forest is SO beautiful
