Crazy town?
Sometimes I’m sure I live in crazy town 🙂
Today was unseasonably warm. I went outside in summery clothes – excited to be able to do so without having to pile on the clothes to brave the weather.
However, it seems to me that Russians dress according to the calendar and not the weather. When I took this photo it was already in the low twenties, but all the children I saw were still wearing jackets and winter beanies. I saw babies in snow suits still.
Also, I’m sweltering because our heating is still on. I got excited for a little while when it was turned off for a couple hours today, but it’s well and truly back on again. Twenty-five degrees outside, sun blazing on the windows, two foot thick walls, and toasty warm radiators – it’s like a dry sauna in here!
I suspect they’ll turn the heating off sometime soon, (after which there will quite possibly be a child snap and snow), but in the meantime there’s little sleep to be had, and when they do turn it off, they’ll turn off the hot water for ten days for maintenance too. Trying to work out which is worse… 🙂
